PROMINENT PARTICIPATION OF AVC_DP IN SIALY 2018

The 5th edition of the International Exhibition of the Food Industry of Yaounde (SIALY), which took place from the 25th to the 30th June, 2018 at the esplanade of the Congress hall in Yaounde witnessed great deployment of the AVC_DP.

 Under the high patronage of the President of the Republic of Cameroon, His Excellency Paul BIYA, and under the supervision of the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development (MINMIDT), SIALY is an economic manifestation of the Cameroonian and African agricultural sector. Its purpose is to promote and strengthen the development of agriculture and the agro-food industry. It is a platform at the service of the agro-food industries, which also serves as a communication means between manufacturers and suppliers. The SIALY is an international event that brings together all the stakeholders involve in the agriculture and agro-food sector from here and elsewhere. Their goal is to be able to discuss issues related to the agro-food industry and the solutions resulting from these works will serve as basis for the Cameroon Government.

The AVC_DP, in its role of actor for the development of the competitiveness of agro-industrial products derived from its three sectors: Pineapple, Plantain and Oil Palm; considered it appropriate to get closer to its potential beneficiaries through this event.The goal was to present the PD_CVA to a wider audience. Its role and its activities were also the subject of a presentation supported by the overall objective of its components. In addition, the AVC_DP seized this communication opportunity to make itself known, to establish a dialogue with the actors of the food industry and also to position itself as a secular arm of the Cameroonian state to improve the competitiveness of three agricultural value chains: oil palm, plantain and pineapple.

The AVC_DP’s booth had the honour to welcome the large delegation of the members of the Government and other illustrious guests. The attendance rate of this booth was like no other and for visitors of all categories: Senators, farmers and agro-industrialists, representatives of other administrations requiring frameworks of collaboration with the AVC_DP (MINMIDT, MINPMEESA … etc.) and above all, youths of all kinds seeking information on this innovative project.

A point of honour was made on the presentation of the Agri-preneurs Program implemented with the support of the IITA, the windows and financing mechanisms of the business-plans for the trained youths in the incubation centers.

Outside the SIALY, the MINIMIDT, in order to position the industry as an instrument at the service of the development, made couple July 26th and 27th, 2018 on the same site, the first National Forum of the Industry of Cameroon (FONAIC) with the main theme: “Agri-food industry, sanctuary of emergence in Africa: Innovation – Transformation – Industrialization”.

During the launching ceremony of this activity having two-components, the Minister in charge of Mines in Industry and Technological Development, proposed in his speech, the establishment of a platform for reflection. The main entities that can explore the vast field of industrialization in Cameroon have been invited, in order to meet the major challenges to be met for the implementation of the new Master Plan of Industrialization of Cameroon (PDI). He underlined that the political orientations and the national potentialities were favorable to the effective take-off of the Actors’ promotion and support mechanisms.In addition to, the participation of AVC_DP in these Open Door Days (JPO) was intended to contribute to the organization of SIALY by making known to the general public, the opportunities offered by the Project. Also, the visitors, especially the youths, expressed their satisfaction and great interest felt for the AVC_DP, as a state instrument of job creation / social insertion, better economic promotion and the reduction of poverty in the youths’ environment.
