Rehabilitation of 23.07km of road in the Doumé district in the Eastern region

As part of the work concerning the rehabilitation of rural roads in the PDCVA project. The Regional Coordinator of the said region received from June 26 to 28 the members of the Project Commission designated for the occasion with the aim of definitively accepting the work carried out in the Doumé district ; department Haut Nyong ; eastern region.
This work consisted more precisely of the rehabilitation of 23.07 km of linear (section 1: GOUNTE-PETIT-POL and section 2: PETIT POL-LOUMBOU). During the mission it will be a question of (i) verifying that the consistency of the work carried out complies with the basic contract and the various updates, (ii) ensuring that the work carried out meets the specifications of the technical clauses particular, (iii) to draw up a report for the circumstance.

The mission allowed the members of the said works acceptance committee as well as the resource persons invited for the occasion to inquire about the consistency of the work carried out on the 02 selected sections:

  • Section 1: GOUNTE-PETIT-POL
  • Section 2: PETIT-POL-LOUMBOU

Work carried out on Section 2: PETIT-POL-LOUMBOU

The visit to this section gave the various stakeholders the opportunity to see the effectiveness of the work carried out in the area, the subject of the final acceptance of the work over a length of 8.07 km. Here is the list of work carried out:

  • The redevelopment of a previously non-functional rain barrier;
  • A review of all sanitation works;
  • The construction of a 16m long reinforced concrete bridge;

Concerning section 2 (15 km of length) a set of works have been carried out. The latter came to correct all the reservations made during a previous inspection visit by the same stakeholders.
All the work carried out is a boon for the populations who will now be able to transport their agricultural products without difficulty and also increase their turnover because in the future traders will be able to go there to buy the goods. This is not the only impact.

Impacts of the project in the Eastern region
In the localities where the tracks have been rehabilitated, other impacts have been observed:

  • The region is now classified among the major agricultural producers for plantain and pineapple crops;
  • The population density is increasingly increasing;
  • Reducing the unemployment rate;

Local residents welcomed these rural redevelopments and thanked the project and the authorities. It will be a question for them to preserve with as much care as possible the material goods which have been granted to them.
